Simply put, Mayor Michael B. Coleman has proposed development of a modern streetcar system for the City of Columbus. This system would run on a dual set of tracks, one running north and one running south, on High St. reaching from the Central Business District at Mound St., all the way up to around 11th Ave. in the University District essentially to the door of The Ohio State University's Student Union (currently under construction.)

The distance of this line, north to south, is approximately 2.8 miles, making for an approximate 5.6 mile loop.

This Starter Line would be the first piece of what would eventually grow out in various directions out from downtown Columbus with the purpose of connecting our various urban neighborhoods.

This modern system utilizes contemporary design with quiet, efficient and convenient equipment and service. There really is no better way to explain the system aside from letting you see for yourself in this video, above, of a modern streetcar system in Portland, Oregon that is similar to what Columbus is considering.
