The first major question you may be asking is, "Why a streetcar in Columbus?" To that we would have to sum it up into the simplest of terms which would focus on Economic Development and a starting point for broader reaching Rail Transit initiatives for Columbus and our surrounding suburban communities.

If you live more than a mile away from the initially proposed streetcar route on High St., the immediate benefits to you appear clear. There is no benefit to you, or at least that is what you may be thinking. Actually it is quite the opposite, but to see the benefits, we have to look at things from a different perspective.

The motivation for installing the streetcar system actually lies more in bringing a benefit to all of Columbus and eventually Franklin County and beyond. But in order to see that benefit, we have to look at the big picture of where Columbus fits in not only as a disconnected collection of great urban and suburban communities, but where we fit in at a national sense in terms of offering an allure to both businesses and people.

The Columbus Streetcars are about making connections between people and places, starting from the inside, downtown and the Central Business District, and working our way out to the urban neighborhoods and beyond.
